Tayma’s Wall, Arradam Palace & Tayma Museum

a mighty defence wall, a guard house and a historic museum

On the way back from the temple ruins of Salma, you may want to take a look at the ruins of Arradam Palace in Tayma. Before you get there, you will pass the clearly visible remains of a mighty wall on the right-hand side of the road, which was located well outside the oasis settlement when it was built around 3,000 years ago. Subject to closure due to ongoing archaeological work, you can visit the remains of the Arradam Palace, which is located on the left-hand side after the fourth crossroads on your way back. The term ‘palace’ commonly used for this building is likely to be an exaggeration, as its proximity to the city wall suggests that it probably served as a guardhouse. As one of the most historically significant places, Tayma rightly has its own museum, which covers thousands of years of human life in this area. However, it was closed a few years ago and had not reopened at the time of publication of this  article.
