Travelling to and from Taif is not difficult. Given its size, Taif is particularly well connected to other cities in the country. This certainly holds true for air and bus connections, as well as for private travel by car.
Taif International Airport (TIF) is of great importance due to its proximity to the holy city of Mecca, and because the city of Taif and its surroundings are one of the most popular summer holiday destinations in the Kingdom. It is located about 30 kilometres east of Taif and about 70 kilometres from Mecca. There are daily flight connections to all major cities in the country. The most popular routes connect Taif with Riyadh, Cairo, Kuwait City, Dammam, Doha and Dubai.
The route between the airport and the city is mainly covered by (green) taxis or ride-on-demand services such as Uber, Careem. Bus services are operated by the state-owned SAPTCO line (TAIF BUS).
Several highways and dual carriageways lead to the city from all over the country. However, one should not underestimate the huge distances and the time required for travelling.
InterCity connections by bus to and from Taif are concentrated on Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca and the cities further south.
