Climate in Taif

rainy, mild & arid

Compared to the rest of Saudi Arabia, the city and region of Taif have favourable climatic conditions, which ensure relatively lush vegetation in the surrounding area and numerous fruit plantations. The climate in Taif is even suitable for growing grain and has earned the city and its surroundings the title ‘Garden of Hejaz.

Taif has a climate with warm to hot summers and mild to fresh winters. Summers are not as extreme as in the lower-lying regions of Saudi Arabia. May to September are the warmest months and of these, July is the warmest. Although temperatures can occasionally reach or exceed 40 °C in the summer months, the average temperature is around 5 °C lower. In winter, temperatures can drop to single figures on average and rise to around 16 °C to 19 °C on average. It is mostly dry with sporadic rain showers. The driest months are February, June and July, while the highest rainfall occurs in April and May with an average of around 35 mm. All that applies to the more western regions in Taif. The more you will go to the interior of the province, the hotter and drier it will be.
