The Al Shareef Museum, named after its owner and operator Al Shareef Ali bin Malbas, is one of the more rewarding heritage museums that are privately run throughout Saudi Arabia.
The museum displays a fairly extensive collection of traditional everyday objects, exhibited in small niches recreated to resemble traditional workshops, as well as hospitality and household utensils, traditional weapons, traditional costumes and agricultural tools – all presented according to thematic areas. This collection gives visitors a deeper understanding of how the country’s ancestors lived in the past. The objects are lovingly displayed. Naturally, there is no lack of reference to the local rose business; visitors can admire a few beautiful old rose oil bottles, rose water bottles and an old distillation set. A few old, colourful trucks are also worth mentioning.
The museum is located in the Umm Al-Sebaa district in the south-east of Taif, not far from the 15 motorway towards Al Bahah.
