Dammam is the largest city in the Eastern Province and the fifth largest in Saudi Arabia after Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah (Mecca), and Madinah (Medina), with a population of nearly 1.4 million in 2022. The city is partly located on a peninsula-like promontory in the Gulf, into which juts a bay that is a defining feature of the cityscape. And most of the sights which are important to visitors ale located around the bay.
