Jabal Al Banat, also known as Qasr al Bint, is perhaps the most extensive contiguous burial site in Hegra.
Its 30 or so tombs are not distinguished by being the largest or most ornate. However, they are notable in their entirety for their more or less elaborate portals and façades, which range from highly decorative to relatively simple. Above all, however, they are arranged in one of the largest rock formations in Hegra, which is very elongated.
The tombs date from 0 to 58 A.D. One of them, the “Daughter’s or Maiden’s Place“, impresses with a tomb façade around 16 metres high. The portal is located directly above the ground.
