Food & Drink in Al Bahah

traditional, not sophisticated

As with other regions in Saudi Arabia, the Province of Al Bahah has its own traditional cuisine, although this is not always clearly distinguishable from the food traditions of neighbouring provinces. Whether you’re a foodie, gourmet or simply interested in a new dining experience when travelling to a new country, finding the most trusted and popular places to eat can be quite nerve-wracking, especially when there are so many options to choose from. There is no shortage of restaurants and cafés in the Province of Al Bahah. However, don’t expect high-sophisticated cuisine like in Jeddah or Riyadh.

Try the local Shadweya coffee (Shadwi). According to tradition, it was one of King Abdulaziz’s favourite drinks. Shadweya coffee is traditionally served on special occasions and when receiving guests.
